Future Gambler?

If I was to make a list of "obnoxious sounds to fall asleep to", I imagine that the sound of dice hitting the table over and over again would be pretty high on the list. However, it seems that Kaylee LOVES it. We discovered this the other day when I was trying to get Kaylee to sleep for the night. I was in her room where it was dark and quiet, rocking her in the rocking chair. She was perfectly calm and quiet but wide awake. After a while, I finally gave up and decided that since she wasn't sleeping anyway, I might as well go out in the living room and be with Richard. We decided to play our favorite dice game, Bupkis. The over-simplified explanation would be that you basically roll 6 dice and try to get the highest score possible, but it's a lot more fun than that sounds. After playing for about 10 mins, I looked down and realized that Kaylee was deep asleep. I went and put her in the crib and she was just fine. We have done that pretty much every night since and it's knocked her out every time. I hope this isn't a future omen that when she grows up she'll be losing all her money at the craps tables in Vegas every night :) If we keep this up, we'll have to find a few new dice games to play or this is going to get old really fast!

MWF Seeking FCH

MWF (Married, White Female) seeking a new FCH (Fun, Cheap Hobby). Must be appropriate for the un-creative mind and require little natural talent. Must be flexible around a limited budget. Must be willing to deal with frequent interruptions from an adorable 2-mo old but negotiations can be made on the number of hours spent together. Please keep in mind that there is a limited amount of space currently available but this MWF would love for any FCH to apply that are interested and adjustments can be made.

Any takers?

2 Years and Counting!

Yesterday was our 2 year anniversary! It some ways it feels like I have known Richard forever and other times I can't believe we've already been married 2 years. Richard got me a gorgeous bouquet of my favorite flowers and as is our tradition, we watched our wedding video and looked through our pictures. My mom was also nice enough to come babysit so we could go out to dinner and to a play. I love being able to get out and celebrate the most important relationship I have with my best friend. It has been a great 2 years!

This is us when we first started dating:
And now here we are today, more in love than ever before. (Cheesy, I know. But it's true!) I am so grateful for this amazing man who loves and supports me in everything I do. He is such a good husband and father and I couldn't ask for anyone better to spend forever with.

Mother's Day

I can't believe I'm actually a mom on Mother's Day this year! I called my mom to wish her a happy Mother's Day and she said happy Mother's Day to you too! It sounded very strange to hear that coming from my mom instead of the other way around! Richard got up early to make me a delicious breakfast of waffles and omelets (strange combination, I know, but that's what I asked for!). I asked him not to get me a present since he just got me a bday present and our anniversary was the next day but he still bought a tray of peanut butter bars covered in chocolate to celebrate. Edible presents are the best kind anyway :) I don't think anybody told Kaylee it was Mother's Day because it was probably her worst day so far and I was pretty frustrated by the end of the day. But Richard's brother told me that Kaylee was just trying to prove how good of a mother I am...I guess it's all about perspective, right? I didn't do a great job since I got very frustrated but hopefully Kaylee knows how much I still love her and how much I love being her mom. The Relief Society asked me to bear my testimony about motherhood since I am the newest mom in the ward and as soon as I started talking about how much Kaylee meant to me, I started bawling and then my mind went blank and I stumbled through the rest of it. Still, it was a good chance for me to try and express how much I love being a mom. I love you Kaylee- thanks for being the best baby in the whole world!!

Happy 23

This past week has been quite eventful. Poor Richard has so many things to plan within one week every year in May. My birthday is on the 5th and our anniversary is on the 10th, with Mother's Day usually somewhere in between. My bday was a lot of fun. Richard got home at 2:00 and made scones for lunch since he leaves way too early to make them for my breakfast. There is nothing better than deep fried dough to celebrate getting older :) As usual, I ruined the surprise of what he was getting me for my bday present but I was very happy with what I got! He gave me the Fablehaven series along with The Candy Shop War, by the same author. Even though I ruined the element of surprise with my present, Richard was so proud of himself this year because he actually managed to surprise me with something on my birthday. He told me that we were going on a picnic for dinner but wouldn't tell me where. I kept trying to guess where we were going but couldn't figure it out. Last summer, we went exploring around this fort in Provo (remember this post?) and found a little trail that branched off and went to a pond that I'm pretty sure nobody else knows about. We were so excited to find this little hidden park and wanted to go back there but we forgot about it. I was definitely surprised when we ended up there for our picnic since I had completely forgotten about it and Richard was ecstatic that he had finally surprised me with something! Kaylee slept the whole time so we enjoyed a quiet picnic and played Bocce ball and a few "holes" of Frisbee golf. Then we dropped Kaylee off at Richard's mom's house and saw the movie Bounty Hunter which was pretty disappointing. All in all it was a good bday even though I can't believe I'm already 23!!!

First Photo Shoot

We took Kaylee to get her one month pictures taken (just a week and a half after she actually turned one month...) I thought we were going to end up with a bunch of pictures that look like this:But she was SUCH a good girl. That was actually the only picture we got of her crying. The rest were so adorable and of course we couldn't resist getting way more than we should have. But hey, she's our first. Isn't that our job to get way more pictures of her than all the rest of the kids? Here are just a few of the most adorable girl ever:
