August 2024

We had missed celebrating Harry Potter's birthday on the last day of July and Brooklyn simply would not stand for that! So we made him a birthday cake and did a few Harry Potter themed things for his party.

Kaylee was feeling sick and I have been feeling crappy pretty much all the time so we stayed home and McKenna and Brooklyn went with Richard to the ward campout. They had a ton of fun and kept saying they wanted to go camping more. I'm glad they can handle it in the terrible Ohio humidity because I sure can't!

They had a Strive To Be concert televised to all the stakes and the youth were invited to come and dance. Brooklyn decided she even wanted to go and ended up dancing her heart out with all the older kids. Not a ton of youth showed up, but that didn't stop our ward from having fun. Unfortunately, McKenna had a panic attack and I ended up going to pick her up before she got a chance to enjoy any of it but hopefully we can work on that with her and help her not get so overwhelmed.

Richard went with a group of guys in the ward to a professional tennis tournament. What he didn't realize was that it was a LONG event. He didn't get home until about 2 am! It ended up being longer and more expensive than he thought but he still enjoyed it and might even go again.

First day of school is finally here! The summer flew by and I don't think any of us were ready for school to start again. Kaylee started high school and seminary this year and it will be tricky to get enough sleep and keep her energy (and her health) up.

McKenna started 7th grade and will be riding the bus with Brooklyn, which was a relief for me, since it is only 3 4th graders with all the middle schoolers. She is taking a lot of art classes which I hope will be a good outlet for all of her amazing creativity!

Brooklyn started the Arrow program which means she leaves the same time as McKenna and rides her bus over to the 6th grade building where she then gets on another bus that takes her to Arrow. It is a long bus ride but it's nice to get home earlier in the day and I think she will really like being in this gifted program since she was always bored at her other school.

Kaylee decided to continue with cross country, which is a huge sacrifice at this level. They run ALL summer long, super early in the morning, even on Saturdays. I think it's a little too intense but she has already improved so much and loves being part of a team.
