There's A First Time For Everything

...including my little girl getting her first cold, which was so sad. Not only did I hate to see my baby sick but it really could not have been worse timing. We missed out on so many fun family activities! Stupid sick germs. I was VERY nervous that Kaylee would be screaming the whole time because she got an ear and eye infection on top of her cold but as usual she was a little angel and just slept most of the time.
One of the things that we missed out on was Richard's family's trip to a cabin in Fairview. We were so sad to miss staying there for a few days but on Thurs Kaylee was feeling a little better so we decided to go up for the day. Nobody knew we were coming so when we got to the cabin, no one was there. We weren't 100% sure that we were even at the right cabin so we peeked in all the windows trying to get a clue as to whether or not we made it to the right place. We though it was our cabin but couldn't tell for sure. Richard found an open window and decided to climb in. Luckily once we got inside we found a bunch of things that confirmed we hadn't broken into someone else's cabin- I was pretty nervous that we were going to be arrested!
We pretty much just chilled around the cabin all day but it was fun to be with the fam and in a new place. Unfortunately, that night I came down with Kaylee's cold and missed out on even more family things the next few days :( Luckily we're all feeling better and can get back to doing more fun things for the rest of the summer!

Fireworks!

Besides swimming parties and barbecued hamburgers, one of my favorite things about summer is FIREWORKS! And this year we definitely got our fill (and there is more to come- hooray!). For us, it started with Taylorsville Dayzz. We always try to get back to my good ol' hometown for this day because they seriously have the best fireworks of any city. My mom was good enough to keep Kaylee at her house so the noise wouldn't scare her and we met up with Scott, Jen, Jen's bro, and my adorable little nieces- Abby and Rachel. I had a perfect moment during the fireworks when both Abby and Rachel decided they wanted to sit on my lap and, for once, weren't squirming and wiggling and getting up and down, but just sat and watched the fireworks for a few minutes. Richard started rubbing my back at that moment and I decided that the only thing that would've made that moment better was if Kaylee could've been with us. I guess Kaylee really wanted to be with us too because she apparently screamed for like 40 mins while we were gone- sorry Mom!

Our next firework adventure was on the 2nd. S. Salt Lake does their fireworks a day before everyone else for some unknown reason but we love it because that means an extra day of fireworks for us! We had a mini family reunion with my cousins and it was fun catching up with them. The kids were SO wired by the time we got around to fireworks and it was pretty funny to watch all of them on such a sugar high!

The next fireworks we saw were the BEST because they were combined with good food, music, and company. Richard's dad got us free tickets to Stadium of Fire through his work (hence the reason all of us are wearing this ugly green T-shirt:) ) and I got to bring Kristi along. We LOVE Carrie Underwood and were so excited to see her. I don't know if Carrie or the fireworks were the best part. We also got to go up to the President's Loge (I'm not kidding, that is what it's called) and have a catered dinner before the show started. We felt very important being up in the box where the VIPs always go to watch football. I only wish we could've stayed there for the show too! Being with Kristi definitely made it more fun, she always makes me laugh and be crazy with her. The only way it would've been better was if the night would've lasted a little longer!I love fireworks so much and I can't wait for the ones we'll see at the Bees game on the 24th!

Discovery Gateway

One huge advantage to being a stay-at-home mom is that now I can get together with my sisters in the middle of the day. During the summer, they always plan a bunch of fun things to do with their kids and I've always been jealous that I had to be at work while they did these fun activities but this year I get to participate! We took the kids to Discovery Gateway a few weeks ago- that place is really cool! Not only do they have a lot of fun things to play with but I always love to be with my sisters and nieces/nephews so of course it was a blast! Unfortunately, we'll be long gone by the time Kaylee is old enough to actually enjoy it... but she enjoyed some time with Grandma all the same. I can't wait for all the rest of the things we have planned for the summer!

Success!

Hooray we finally have Internet again! And I couldn't be happier. Although, I do think it was good for me to take a little hiatus from cyberspace because it helped me see how much of a "want" it really is, instead of a "need" like I sometimes think. (Although it definitely does make life easier!)

Summer has been very good so far. Richard has only had one class and has been home a lot more, which Kaylee and I both love. We are loving a lot of things about our new apt but have had a lot of problems too. I'm not going to blog about the mess we've had to deal with so far because we're trying to be positive and only look at the good things about our new place :) I'll try to catch up on some of the fun things we've done the last couple of weeks- more for me to remember them than anything. Glad to be back in the online world!

In Case You're Wondering...

Why I haven't blogged for so long, we moved in the middle of June and still don't have internet set up at our house. Hopefully by next week we will finally get it taken care of. I'm sorry for those few who have actually checked my blog and have to see the depressing blog I wrote last time about my hard life (or so it seemed at the time). I promise I will get more blogs up as soon as I can- I've had a busy/fun couple of weeks!
