Vacay Pt 2: Gilbert
Monday morning we woke up once again bright and early and headed off to Gilbert, AZ to spend a fantastic week with Holly, Chase, and Emery.
Tuesday we went to the Children's Museum, which was basically like the Discovery Gateway here. Emery was still a little young for most of it but we had fun anyway. His favorite part was the grocery store and he never got sick of pulling things off the shelf and putting them back.
On Wednesday, Richard and Chase went to a Diamondbacks game so we had a girls night. Holly painted all of our toenails and Kaylee looked super cute with her tiny painted toes. Emery must have felt left out because he decided to eat some nail polish instead of wearing it. He discovered very quickly that eating it was not the best idea! Poor kid :( We also ate some ice cream and watched the Last Song. What more could you ask for on girl's night?Thurs we mostly just played around the house but also went to Chase's softball game that night. Even though the sun was down it was still SO hot and we were all dripping with sweat just sitting and watching. It's amazing how hot it is all the time!
Friday we left Kaylee with Hol and decided to go on a short hike. Her neighbor recommended one on Silly Mtn (yes, that is what it's really called!) and so we set off thinking it would be the easiest hike ever with a name like that. But between the heat and the unexpected steepness of the mountain, we were both dying by the time we got to the top. I love hiking though so it was worth it! Then we took Kaylee swimming for her first time. I was very surprised that she LOVED it and it was the perfect way to end our fun week. Thanks Holly, Chase, and Ems! We miss you already!!

Vacay Pt 1: St George
Well we are finally back from our long and wonderful vacation. We had so much fun and did so many things that I can't blog in detail about any of them unless I want it to be the longest post ever. So I'll try to just briefly describe what we did. We first headed to St George and were able to stay in an INCREDIBLE home provided by our Bishop. I was having a panic attack all weekend because I was terrified that one of the kids (or me) would break something in this beautiful home. This was the bedroom we stayed in:
Thurs we just chilled with Laura during the day and then that night we saw Cats at Tuacahn, which was pretty much the worst musical I've ever seen in my life. How did that show get so popular?
Friday we went hiking in Red Cliffs. I didn't think Kaylee would like the hiking backpack very much but she loved being able to see everything and even fell asleep after a few minutes. The hike was gorgeous but very short since it was super hot and we had a bunch of little kids to get out of the heat. That night we also went swimming and had a blast since almost the entire family was there.
Saturday was Joel's baptism. Richard was honored to be the one to baptize him and it was a great experience for both of them. It's fun to see how excited Joel is about the Gospel. It makes me want to have more enthusiasm for this wonderful work. They didn't have any normal jumpsuits that were the right size so they got to wear some awesome retro jumpsuits that looked like they were from the 70's.Sunday we went to watch Joel be confirmed in sacrament meeting and then walked around the St George temple grounds. That night we played games with Laura and Joel and then frantically tried to clean our Bishop's beautiful house so that we could leave early the next morning for AZ. Thanks for a great weekend Laura and Joel!!

And We're Off!
Tomorrow morning (VERY early) we're off for a 10 day vacation to St George and AZ. I am terrified to travel with Kaylee, who doesn't seem to like her car seat very much. She doesn't like anything that she has to be strapped down in. Wish us luck!

Don't Ask
Please don't ask why someone invented that hideous haircut known as the mullet.
Or why it was actually popular at some point.
Or why my husband thinks it would be funny to have one.
Or why every time I cut his hair he begs me to give him one.
Or why I actually let him talk me into letting him have one for a few days. Please don't ask me those things because I just don't have an answer for any of them.

Chatterbox
Kaylee has been making adorable sounds for a while now, but most of the time she isn't super talkative. The other day, we decided to go sit outside and laid her out on a blanket while Richard and I played cards. We were outside for almost an hour and pretty much the entire time, Kaylee was staring at the same spot in the trees and making this same sound over and over again- it was SO cute and it was making me laugh because she never looked away from that spot and never changed the noise she was making. Makes me wonder who she must have been talking to up in the tree!!
