One Sunday morning we got a knock on our door very early in the morning. Our next door neighbor was at the door and he told us that his son had come home at 3:00 am and hit our mailbox. We looked at and were shocked that he had broken the entire thing in half. He must have been going pretty fast still! They were so kind and promised that when we got home from church they would have a new mailbox ready for us. We felt so bad watching them work out there all day, especially when they ended up having to rent a jackhammer and tear up the concrete base and mix up cement to pour a new one. He ended up working all day long but he did a fantastic job.
Kaylee had a super exciting birthday this year because she turned 8! We have been talking about getting baptized in every FHE since the beginning of the year and she was really excited about that and starting Activity Days. We were lucky enough to have Sharon, Rob and Mom and Dad come out for her baptism. I was worried about having just a few people from both families but I thought it went as good as it could have and we found lots of fun things to do. We went to COSI, took everyone bowling, went on a Big City Scavenger Hunt, played games and chatted a lot. They especially loved jumping on Uncle Robert. He was a lot of fun for them to play with!
The day of the baptism went perfectly. Both Grandmas gave a talk, Grandpa and Uncle Rob were witnesses and Richard did a beautiful job on the confirmation. Kaylee had a huge adorable smile on her face the entire day! We invited a few of our friends over for cake at our house afterwards and it was a really special day. We are so proud of Kaylee!
Grandma and Grandpa had to leave the day before Brooklyn's birthday so we let her open her presents before they left. She was so excited to get a Plasma car and has used it constantly since. Although she often has to fight her sisters for it! On her birthday the girls were back in school but Sharon and Rob were still here so we took them to the Conservatory and then out to lunch at Wendy's, which was the perfect day for Brooklyn.
Easter was on Conference weekend this year so we didn't go to any big hunts like we usually do but we did dye lots of eggs! This was the first time I've used an actual dye kit and it was Brooklyn's first time ever and it was a hit! Kaylee especially loves it and could probably dye a hundred eggs if she could. In between session we did a small egg hunt with the Solanos at the church and let the kids run around and burn some energy in the gym.
On Easter we got to listen to Conference but by the end of all the sessions our kids were done sitting down and listening so we decided to save our usual Resurrection Eggs for FHE the next day. One fun surprise was that Kenna came to me and said she decided she wanted to chop her hair off. She had mentioned a few times in the past that she would one day but she seemed sure and before either of us hesitated too much, I took her in the bathroom and chopped off at least a full foot of hair! I'm not sure either of us expected it to be that short but she says she loves it! She looks like a completely different girl now but still just as adorable!
