Dec 2025

As December started, we got one of the biggest snow storms I remember since living here. All in all it ended up about 2 feet of snow. Church and school was canceled but we managed to go sledding and have some fun in the snow.

Kaylee and McKenna were invited to go see Wicked 2 with friends for Clair's birthday. Even though they had already seen it, they were all for going again!

We had a lot going on on Saturday. We started by having our ward Christmas party in the morning with a pajama party, brunch and sing-a-long. Then we went to watch the Christman's in a community orchestra. It actually was more enjoyable than I thought it would be and it put us in the Christmas spirit! Then Kaylee helped out at the library with a Polar Express party and ended the day at a birthday party for a friend.

Kaylee had her Christmas orchestra concert the next week and also helped out with a preschool party at Alton Darby Elementary. She is so good to be involved in all kinds of things with the community!

Brooklyn's friend, Gracie, invited her to come home with her from school on the last day before break. Her mom took them out to dinner and to get ice cream and then they walked around looking at Christmas decorations.

That weekend we had our annual adults only White Christmas party. Most of the presents were actually really good ones that people would want to end up with so I think everyone was pretty happy! What we got was good but we had very similar things and we thought the Sukhdeo's would have a lot more fun with it so we gave them our gift and came home with nothing. Our kids were a little disappointed in us! Ha ha.

McKenna was struggling and needed a break so Holly volunteered to have her come stay with her for a few days. I think it was what everyone needed and I was so grateful for Holly's offer. We both drove to Indianapolis to meet up and let McKenna go home with them and then we did the same thing a few days later. Kenna had to go to Madsy's wrestling tournament that was most of the day on Saturday, which wasn't the most fun ever but it was fun for Madeline to have extra cheerleaders. One of her favorite things was helping Chase cut up a deer he had killed and she even let Chase pierce her ears!

While Kenna was gone, we took Kaylee and Brooklyn one night to a drive-through Christmas light show. It definitely wasn't the best one we had ever been to but it was different and fun to just get out of the house and be together.

We had the Crossley's over for Christmas Eve and did our usual dinner, games, and sugar cookie decorating.

The Christman's had everyone over for Christmas and we had a shepherd's feast where we all ate on the floor and had delicious curry and all the food that people brought on a charcuterie. We ended the night by having the kids act out the nativity and singing songs in between the verses. It reminded me of how we used to do it with Grandma Joye and made me feel very nostalgic and helped us feel the Spirit for Christmas.

McKenna has been extra sad that we don't have any pets so Richard looked into places we could take her to volunteer with animals. We have a Humane Society not too far away from us and they went multiple times over the break, sometimes with just the family and sometimes with friends.

There is always a youth dance that is close to NYE and Kaylee and McKenna both went to it and seemed to enjoy it.

The girls have been wanting to help me with the Bishop's Storehouse for a long time but we never seemed to make it work on a day that they could be there. It was perfect that they needed volunteers to go on the last Monday of winter break and Kaylee, Brooklyn, Richard and I all went and had so much fun. I wish we could go more often at a time when the kids were available.

The Crossley's invited us over for NYE. We had dinner and played games while the football game was on. We also learned a fun new tradition from the Christman's where they stack a huge tower of cups that say the current year and then we all built paper airplanes to throw at the tower at the end of the countdown to the new year. I felt like this was one of the best NYE's we have had in a while!
