Kaylee finished out her track season with some injuries. She did a great job keeping up with her training but started to have pain in her legs and felt a little sluggish. She seems to be having a lot of the same symptoms that I started with on my thyroid journey so we'll have to take her into a doctor but I was proud of how hard she pushed herself to finish the season even when she wasn't feeling her best.
Our ward scheduled a youth trip to Kirtland and so Kaylee got up early and went with them on a day they had off of school. As they sat down for lunch, she looked over and saw the Shurtz family, our friends from our first Ohio ward! They live in Indiana now and it was so crazy that they happened to be there on the same day. Kaylee had a great experience with the youth and when she got back, Grandma and Grandpa had flown in to spend a few days with us!
I had heard about a Tulip Festival at a place about an hour away from us and we decided to check it out. I'm not sure I would call it a Festival, but it was still fun! They had little goats you could feed, some farm-themed activities, and rows and rows of beautiful tulips and daffodils.
Since it was also Easter weekend, we made sure to dye eggs with Grandma.
Since we only had sacrament meeting on Easter, our Primary had done a special Primary lesson about the Atonement the week before and made this incredible tomb in the Primary room! It was really impressive and they did a great job setting the tone for the upcoming holiday.
After church on Easter, we had tickets to see the Lamb of God. Our stake decided to put on this musical and we had some extremely talented people singing in it! We also had the Crossley's come join us for dinner and it was a very enjoyable Easter. They shared a tradition with us that I thought was such a cool idea! They made this little garden tomb with wheatgrass. They filled a container with dirt and sprinkled the wheatgrass on it over the course of about two weeks and watched as it grew. On the Friday before Easter, they pick a smooth rock and cover the opening of the tomb and then on Easter Sunday, they removed the rock and put a little statue of Christ there instead. I love that it gets you ready for the coming holiday and focusing on what really matters.
The next day, we tried a new place in Columbus called Activate. You get an electronic wristband that you scan to get in and out of the different rooms and it keeps track of your points and progress. All the rooms have different games to play inside them, it feels like you jump into a real life video game! It was super fun and definitely a place we would go back to.
The timing was really sad because Grandma and Grandpa had to get back to their temple but the day they left was also the day that Richard got honored for winning the Distinguished Staff Award. They had a big lunch honoring all the award winners, as well as a cash prize and in the fall they will get a shout out at one of the OSU football games. We met some of the women who work with Richard and who nominated him and it was great to see him be appreciated for how hard he works.
