To make up for our unfortunate lockout dinner, we told the girls we would have another fancy dinner up in our room with their decorations and candles, etc. I know I took a picture of McKenna's sign but I don't know what happened to it! We had a miniature dinner and got mini quiches, tiny little cups that we put smoothie in, mini pizzas, baby carrots, mini cucumbers, mini eclairs, etc.
We got so much snow this year that the girls were able to created all kinds of things. They made a sled track on top of a mini hill we created from shoveling and had fun going on it again and again. Kaylee also made a snow cave. I'm glad they had so much fun in the snow because shoveling all that snow and ice was not nearly as fun!
I temporarily lost my mind and agreed to watch our friend's bearded dragon while they went out of town for 10 days! As much as I hated it, it was worth it to see how much the girls loved it. They were obsessed and often fought over whose turn it was to hold her.
Nobody loved her more than McKenna, however, and she did absolutely everything she could with her. She read books to it, held it on her lap while she practiced piano and watched tv, and even created a "baby" carrier for it so she could have it with her all the time.
Unfortunately, Beardie's nails were extra long and they tore up McKenna's poor hands. Even all these scratches didn't deter her from holding it as much as she could though!
We took a trip down to Louisville to take Kaylee to the temple for the first time. The Andreasons met us there and Holly and I did sealings first while Richard entertained the kids at a pet store. Then Holly took over kid duty while Richard and I took Kaylee and Emery in to do baptisms. It was an incredible experience and I was so proud of Kaylee. We ended up sitting in the bapistry for a really long time before we were able to start and I was impressed with both her and Emery for their maturity and patience. We went and got ice cream with the Andreasons afterwards and then headed home.
McKenna created her own little mailbox to take to school for Valentine's Day. I thought she did a great job with it! It opened just like a mailbox and even had a flag that went up and down on the side. For dinner, we always do a mixed up menu and the girls loved being able to celebrate Valentine's Day at school again for the first time in two years.
Kaylee showed Brooklyn how to use colored pencils to draw on your skin after dipping them in water. It was a big hit and Kaylee was very kind in letting Brooklyn try it out on her!
We did our 2nd annual President's Day debate and I thought it went over pretty well! Brooklyn chose George Washington, McKenna did Abraham Lincoln, and Kaylee was Thomas Jefferson. Kaylee won the debate and immediately chose to get milkshakes for everyone!
I have no idea how it got started but Richard and Brooklyn started playing a new game where they would tie each other up and see how long it took them to get out of it. Such a strange game but Brooklyn loved it so much she kept asking to play it again and again!
