Theme Night: Pirates!

Kaylee and McKenna discovered the TV show Jake and the Neverland Pirates and have been OBSESSED.  So naturally, we had to do a pirate theme night!  Kaylee wanted to dress up like the little girl from the show and I think she did a pretty great job:
We ate fish sticks for dinner (very pirate-y, I know) and had sand pudding for dessert.  I drew a treasure map for the girls to follow and at each place on the map they found gold coins (of the chocolate variety) to add to our team treasure chest. Kaylee HAD to have pixie dust, just like the girl in her show so we emptied the contents of our three hole punch into her bag.  At one point during the treasure hunt, we came to a giant river full of crocodiles that we couldn't cross.  Kaylee threw her pixie dust on us so we could fly over the river safely!
That was definitely her favorite part. The hunt ended with a new pirate ship for the girls to play with.  After our hunt, we went downstairs to make the girls walk the plank, AKA run off the edge of the guest bed and dive into a pile of pillows, which I forgot to take pictures of. But by this point, I think Kaylee was a little worn out because she had been helping me make pirate things all day and had been SO excited that by the time we finished our party, she wanted nothing to do with pirates- ha ha. We got very creative and had a wooden sword made from a toilet paper roll tube, pixie dust from paper, a hook from aluminum foil, and a river made out of bubble wrap with toy crocodiles floating on top just to make it authentic.  This was the first time I've really let Kaylee help me prepare for the party so it was really fun until she decided she's had enough!  This will definitely be a recurring theme down the road.

Sisters=Friends

There is nothing in the world that makes me as happy and content as watching my two girls have fun together. Ok, maybe watching their daddy have fun with both of them beats it...but only just barely.  I love those moments where they can just LAUGH together. Hopefully there will be many, many more of those moments in the future!

Indoor Waterpark

I've always thought the idea of an indoor water park sounded pretty cool.  So when our friends said they really wanted to go before their new baby comes, we were all on board for trying it out.  We decided to just go to the one in Columbus even though it's not as big or amazing as some of the others.  But I am all about close and cheap :) So we headed off to Fort Rapids last Monday (one of the many advantages to having a husband with a flexible schedule!)
My biggest complaint was the NOISE.  It was so loud in there we couldn't hear each other talk at all.  But other than that it was a blast!  Every bit of fun as you would imagine and we could play with the kids for hours and hours without worrying about sunburn or getting exhausted from the heat.  Kenna did not like actually being in the water, but had a blast playing on the edge of the water, not too close to anything that would scare her.  She is definitely my cautious little cutie.  Which works well since she is also NOT mommy's little listener...
Kaylee, on the other hand could not be convinced to leave the water and even after more than four hours, had to be dragged from the pool so we could go!
Even with all the noise, the excitement was a little too much for some of us...
That's how you know you've had a good time!  We're so lucky we have awesome friends to go with and that we have a little more time now to play. Now I feel like the summer can officially begin!

Catching Up

 Life has been good here lately.  We have had some unexpected events, like Richard going home for his Grandma's funeral and a few injuries here and there...
I don't know if you can see it very good, but Kenna smacked her face SO hard and her lip swelled up to twice the size it normally is!
But mostly we have just been enjoying having Richard back in our lives!  Plus with trips to the zoo,

playdates with friends,

and busting out our swimsuits to start the summer fun,
we have been busy and having fun.  Can't ask for more than that!
