Dracula

Kaylee got her first tooth when she was about 7 months.  Which was followed by another bottom tooth.  Which was then followed by two incisors on either side of her mouth!  If you don't believe me, here's a picture to prove it:
Ok well maybe you can't see it that well in the picture, but I promise they are there!  When we took her to the doctor after those came in, he was amazed and said he had never seen those side teeth come in before the front teeth.  He said, "You must have some vampire in your blood!"  If we do, I'm sure it comes from Richard's side ;)  I thought for sure her front teeth would come in soon after but instead she got another tooth on the bottom and all four of her one-year old molars!  Silly girl, doesn't she know she's doing it backwards?  But I wasn't complaining because I love her vampire teeth, I think it makes her adorable and very unique.  Unfortunately, one of her front teeth FINALLY broke through and she's going to lose her loveable vampire fangs and have normal teeth.  ~sigh~ I'm going to miss that smile of hers but I'm sure her new one will be just as beautiful!

Bragging Rights

I'm pretty sure parents are the only people in the world who can brag endlessly without seeming too full of themselves.  At least that's what I tell myself when I can't stop bragging about Kaylee :)  Today's Dr appointment made me feel pretty good about myself and gave me more fuel to brag about.  Every time the doctor asked me a question, she was shocked by the answer.  When I told her how many words Kaylee can say, how many more signs she can do, that she can do some animals noises and can point to all of her different body parts, etc., the doctor was in shock.  She kept saying things like, "I was going to be impressed if you told me she could only do half that!"  Or, "wow she is so far advanced, you should be really proud of yourself".  It was definitely good to hear that from my doctor because I've been stressing like crazy lately over her (for a lot of reasons I won't go into).  The only thing that made me feel guilty was that we found out she has a REALLY bad ear infection and I had no idea because she was still sleeping great.  Sorry Kaylee!  But at least now I know that if I ever need a self-esteem boost as a mother, I can just go visit my pediatrician!

Liberty Park

Remember when I said we had a ton of stuff to do this summer?  I wasn't kidding.  Friday I took Kaylee and met up with almost all of her cousins for a fun day at Liberty Park.  First we played on the playground, then saw the bird show and walked around the Aviary, then we went and played in the water (where Kaylee promptly sat down in the water in her clothes because her mother didn't bring her swimsuit....) and then had a picnic lunch.  And I'm sure we could have even stayed there all day having fun if the kids had their way.  I can't go to Ohio where I'll miss out on all this cousin fun.  I guess I'll just have to stay here while Richard goes and get his PhD :)

Water Baby

We were finally able to use our passes to go to Seven Peaks, now that the weather is cooperating.  We have to take advantage of it now, while my pregnant belly can still fit into my swimsuit!  We took Kaylee swimming last year and so I assumed that she would like it again, but I had no idea how much she would love it or how brave she would be.  As soon as I put her down, she went charging into the wave pool with no fear, not looking back once to see if I was following.  She would even put her face down into the water without getting scared or crying, and her favorite game was to try to splash Daddy and then giggle like crazy.  She wasn't crazy about being confined in her inner tube, so that was discarded pretty quick but she was fine as long as she could run around in the water.  The only time she was unhappy was when we tried to go on the lazy river, where the water was freezing!  She couldn't get out of there fast enough, and I completely agreed with her. I was so mad at myself for not taking our camera in and regret not having any pool pictures in her cute little ballerina swimsuit.  However, we did get this video of her twirling to show off her ballet skills:
It was a blast and I hope we get to go back a lot this summer!

Zoo Time

We have tons of fun things to check off our list before the summer is through and we were able to get the first one done on Tuesday: a zoo trip!  Kaylee was fascinated with all of the animals and said "Woah" to everything we saw- adorable! It was the perfect time to go because it was warm enough to be comfortable, but there was a breeze that kept it cool so the animals were all super active.  Especially the big cats, I don't think I've ever seen them do anything but lay around but they were a lot of fun to watch.  And they even had a demonstration at the elephant cages so we got to see some of the momma elephant's tricks, including smacking baby Zuri every time he got close enough to steal the attention from her.  Ha ha.  Thanks for the fun trip Kristi and Mom!

Festival of Books

Yesterday we took Kaylee to Utah's Festival of Books at BYU.  It was a blast and I'm really glad we went.  Don't worry- if you missed it, there is another one at the U in September.  We got a bunch of free stuff and even got two free books for Kaylee.  They had face painting, balloon animals, wheels you can spin to win prizes, cans to knock down for a prize, lots of activities for kids, and authors who were there to speak and sign autographs- all for free!  Can't beat that.  We stayed a lot longer than we had planned to and were exhausted and sunburned by the time we got home, but it was a great Saturday morning activity.
Coloring Kaylee's bookmark (AKA Richard coloring and Kaylee trying to eat the crayons...)

Pictures with a few of the characters walking around.  Kaylee wasn't too sure about them yet- she must be my daughter.  I don't want her to like those creepy things anyway :)

Strawberryyyyy!

Kaylee is talking quite a bit now.  She has at least 15 words that she says regularly.  But my favorite one, by far, is strawberry.  Most of her other words are one syllable and I was shocked when she walked up to my mom one day and said "strawberryyyyy".  She usually draws the end out so it sounds like she is singing it- it's so adorable!!!!  I love when kids start talking, there is really nothing cuter in the entire world.
